There is a misconception by homeowners that Colorbond Ⓡ roofing can’t be painted. This is, in fact, a MYTH.
Colorbond Ⓡ roofing can indeed be painted, however, only products developed especially for Colorbond Ⓡ roofing must be used. Regular roof paint will not work on a Colorbond Ⓡ roof. Shop bought roof paint applied to a Colorbond Ⓡ roof  will soon fade, crack and peel.

What’s the difference between a tile roof restoration and Colorbond Ⓡ roof restoration?

If a roofer has never repaired, painted or restored a Colorbond roof, then do not sign on the dotted line! Colorbond roofing requires a metal roofing specialist. The products we use are different and the process for restoring an iron roof requires expertise. Colorbond roofing or iron roofing follows a similar process to this :

Colorbond Roof Restoration Process:

  1. Pressure clean roof surface and guttering
  2. Rinse down
  3. Replace old lead nails or rusted screws
  4. Replace sheets where necessary
  5. Apply penetrol rust inhibitor to all surface rust
  6. Apply 1 coat metal primer
  7. Apply 2 coats roof membrane coating
